Two, Alone

She laughed, tossing back the phone, “How depressing!”

The writer felt defensive, “That’s like, my schtick – a dreary poet who rejects catharsis.”

“Oh, honey,” she murmured, a finger prodding his cheek, “Rejection implies choice.”

Across the room, a grey shorthair yawned with an air of annoyance, wondering why it’s human was talking to himself again.

    1. I’ve read your poetry LC, you are plenty capable of expressing emotion! Thank you all the same! I enjoy the limitations of the old 55-word Challenge, and using it now makes me feel both melancholic and content, like thinking back on a fun memory, lost to time.
